A 3D mockup and a physical prototype are complementary approval tools that control different risks.
What does 3D reveal?
Review panel direction, graphic joins, logo scale, visibility, lighting and approximate material appearance. Launch and e-commerce assets can also be developed before production.
What does it not prove?
A screen cannot validate real creasing, closure force, adhesive, color shift, product movement or transit strength.
Purpose of the physical prototype
A full-size mockup checks dimensions, fit, opening, inserts, panel order and ergonomics. A printed proof reveals color, small copy, barcodes and finishing registration.
Reliable approval order
Move from approved dieline to white mockup, graphic concept, 3D review, printed proof and—where risk requires—a production sample. Never record 3D approval as complete manufacturing approval.
