Shoppers often see a block of products rather than one isolated pack. Shelf impact should be tested through the complete line-up.

Build a planogram scenario

Place products at realistic shelf height, facing count and competitor adjacency. Evaluate the likely retail arrangement rather than one hero image.

Brand block and variant code

A logo zone, shared field or typographic band should create brand presence from a distance. Variant colors must remain strong enough to prevent selection errors.

Test at three distances

From the aisle, recognize brand and category; at the shelf, product type and variant; in hand, detailed information. Enlarging everything destroys hierarchy.

Blind test with competitors

Use short exposures with people outside the brand team. Record first notice, perceived price tier and chosen variant to verify assumptions.

Include the digital shelf

The same range may appear together in search results. Ensure the shelf-block system does not create variant confusion at thumbnail size.
